ROOF MAINTENANCE

Concrete tile roof

The mortar / plaster which helps to keep the ridge-tiles (and barge-tiles) attached on a concrete tile roof is called “pointing”.
Pointing is also the waterproofing medium which prevents water from leaking through the ridge tiles.
It is recommended to re-do the pointing every 20 to 30 years depending on the type of pointing that was plastered on the last time.
In the past a less flexible cement-based plaster was used, which was prone to cracking and loosing grip on roof tiles.
Today several pointing products are available that display great adhesion and flexibility compared to the “old” mortar plaster.
Atlas Roofing use only the highest quality pointing products that are available for any pointing work we do.

Roof painting

After 15 years of spray-painting roofs in Auckland, we know from experience that the most important part of the process is the repair, preparation and maintenance that needs to be done before the roof is painted. This is important to ensure that the paint does not simply cover up any problems.
Atlas Roofing apply a 3 x coat spray-painting system by using the highest quality roof paint, which has been specially developed to withstand our unique UV and weather conditions in New Zealand.
The roof colour is chosen by you, and we will provide you with a colour chart to choose from the most popular roof colours available.
