IRON ROOF PROFILES:
FACTORY COATINGS :
The COLORSTEEL® ENDURA® paint system consists of a ZINCALUME® steel substrate to which a prepainted finish system is applied. The system is designed to provide protection against corrosion in areas where moderate to severe environmental conditions are experienced. COLORSTEEL® ENDURA® product is suitable for a wide range of rollformed roof and wall claddings, rainwater accessories and general building products. The COLORSTEEL® ENDURA® paint system will exceed the service life of most traditional post painted systems.
When rollformed, installed and maintained in accordance with New Zealand Steel's recommendations, COLORSTEEL® ENDURA® prepainted steel will meet the performance requirements of NZBC B2 for a 15 year durability when used for the manufacture of roof and wall claddings. COLORSTEEL® ENDURA® products are expected to fade uniformly over the surface, the extent being no more than 8 CIE Hunterlab units on the Delta E scale after 10 years or more than 10 units after 15 years, and have a chalk rating of no more than 4 (AS 1580 481.1.11, 1998) after 10 years exposure.
Specifically developed to withstand higher atmospheric salt concentrations, COLORSTEEL® MAXX® is ideal in extreme building environments like New Zealand’s rugged coastline.
COLORSTEEL® MAXX® is incredibly resistant to corrosion thanks to everything from the 200g/m2 zinc/aluminium alloy coating on the steel substrate and the galvanic protection on the cut-edges to the corrosion resistant primer and the baked-on paint finish it boasts.
It’s also available in a range of colours and profiles to suit any home or building, ensuring it's as good looking as it is hard wearing!
ZINCALUME® coated steel has a finely spangled silvery matt finish. ZINCALUME® coated steel has long term, corrosion resistance in many atmospheric conditions. Test sites from around the world have provided a wealth of information over the past 50 years on the comparative
performance of galvanised versus ZINCALUME® coated steel products. Corrosion rates are determined by exposing samples of
ZINCALUME® coated steel and galvanised steel on standard test racks and regularly monitoring the coating performance over a number of years. Though corrosion rates vary according to the severity of conditions, ZINCALUME® coated steel out-performs galvanised coatings in almost all environments
In the New Zealand climate, where winds can carry corrosive salt-filled air over many kilometres inland, ZINCALUME® offers the first line of defence.
As its name suggests it is a zinc/aluminium alloy coated steel that gives significantly longer service life than a galvanised coating. The materials act in harmony with each other, combining the corrosion protection of aluminium with the sacrificial protection of zinc.
Versatility is another reason why the product ZINCALUME® is ideal for roofing, wall claddings, gutters and downpipes, fences and even garden sheds.
Glavanized roofing materials have been installed for many years in New Zealand and are still being manufactured for installation today.
We suggest though to consider choosing zincalume roof materials for any new roof installations or replacements, since ZINCALUME® coated steel out-performs galvanised coatings in almost all environments.
The exception is where the new materials to be installed will be joined to - or run off from the old galvanized roof materials, in which case we reccommend to use new galvanized materials to join with the old galvanized materials.
